To sign up, please turn up from 6pm on the day and ask for the signup sheet.

Performers

Tyger Blue

Tyger Blue is a musician based in Birmingham, UK. Through working with experimental software including TidalCycles and VCV Rack he explores how algorithms and computational methods are forging new pathways in the creation of music and sonic experiences.

As an early career musician he is building a reputation for his live performances, fusing ambient, IDM and other forms of Bass oriented music. To date he has performed at venues including No Bounds Festival, Vivid Projects, Corsica Studios and IKLECTIK.

As an aspiring educator he is developing educational programmes that elevate the voices and talents of early-career people of colour.

hellocatfood

Antonio Roberts (hellocatfood) is an artist, musician and curator based in Birmingham, UK. His practice is concerned with how the misuse of digital technology impacts people of colour and other marginalised groups.

His recent work focuses on the depiction of Black people in digital media, ranging from stereotypical misrepresentations in early video games to modern algorithms and AI codifying existing biases.

His (Algo|Afro) Futures mentoring programme teaches live coding software as a way to address how Black people have been under/mispreresented in digital art and electronic music, despite being pivotal to its development.

He is currently learning game development, with the aim to explore how immersive environments can be used as a narrative storytelling device. He is also working on his debut EP, created using a combination of live coding software and hardware synthesisers.

mah[alias] & Joana Chicau

mah[alias] is the live-code moniker of London-based artist Mahalia Henry-Richards. Intrigued by the concept of play and 'messiness' in the world of computation - she enjoys experimenting through the medium of live coding embracing all the unexpected twists it offers. With a background in visual live coding and years of experience as a classical musician, Mahalia now merges these two worlds, venturing into the realm of algorithmic music creation.

Joana Chicau is a designer and researcher — with a background in dance. Her live coding performances interweave web programming with choreography. She performs worldwide in art and tech spaces, festivals, both solo and in collaboration. She organises community run events involving collaborative algorithmic improvisation and work on digital equity and activism.

xname

xname is the monicker of Eleonora Oreggia, a conceptual electronic artist born in Milan (IT) and based in London. She creates performances and interactive installations using light, sound, dust, and electromagnetic fields. Her music features elements of techno, noise, ambient drone and industrial.

Along with making music and art, Eleonora is a writer, researcher and leader of an electronic music degree. She is also the creator of REBUS, a novel musical machine that can be played by plucking electromagnetic waves.
